|
|
i got about 50 ping from my own server to my computer the server beeing a old comp and running quakeworld 2.33 or even 2.51 and its near me about 2m away with a 5m cable connected to a switch then on to my compuer runnin fuhquake 0.31 but its almost never any lower than 50 in ping
i sometime have somebody playing with me on this server and his ping is over 100 most of the time at worst over 200
any ideas how to fix the high pings would be appreciated |

if its an old pc then u probly have low server fps (20fps gives a neat 50ms)
btw there is no official qw 2.51, it must be a 3rd party client (like fuhq) |

You could try running a newer server like zquake ,with qw 2.33 it is most likely using 100% of the cpu an that is going to slow things down alot could be the same with the 2.51 also |

What OS are you using at server? Original id qw-server doesn't work well on Win9x. |

the problem is in id software code. Original server gives you 50+ ping. All you need is to setup modern server binary instead of original. AFAIK all current qw servers have this problem fixed. |

priority only works if the server and the client are being run on the same machine, and only for old qwsv
elvis, run fuhquake.exe -dedicated instead of qwsv.exe |
