There is fps drop in soft and gl.. nomatter what hardware u got. Some ppl say its because of services, drivers, operatin systems..

basicly its just a pain in the ass... and everyone has it. Seems to be one of those problems noone can seem to get rid of. and its one of the things that has the biggest impact. i know several ppl dont wanna play qw anymore cause of the lag, and noone know a sollution, other than extreme disabling of everything running on ur system.. that shouldnt really be neccessary in our age of technoligy.

well, i can easily get 150 fps but i have to change res to 640 at 32 bits, at 1024 i can get fps between 50 and 120, depends on what is going on (explosions, blood, etc).

well u can get whatever fps u want, but without fps drops its hard Smile
check fpslist in ktpro and check ur minimum fps. Ever noticed when playing, u get that ~5fps drop and it feels like 100pl spike for just a few ms. UHhh thats the worst man.. and it comes like once ever xx seconds, depending on ur setup.

nope, sorry never had that. I noticed once a guy with that problem but i thought it was GPU problem, but i never had that problem. i usualy play on Games HQ OZTF public server, go and check it, it has a maxfps of 300

way harder to see blood in gl than it is in SW. gl_part_blood 1 does help tho. Even harder seeing blood on fov 120 :>

goljat, i agree with you. it is definitely harder to see sg/lg hits in gl no matter which textures i use when i run the gl; fyi i used drugsbunny's simple blue gl textures and had the same experience. i say stick with sw, and let the gl guys have the blood hits their way if they like them as they are. as well, do you not like r_max_size_1 1/2 in sw? i find it improves the clarity of vision even beyond that of gl with simple textures. good cheer, xhrl

doesnt ktpro have a moreblookd command? last time i saw it you could get an almost solid red square about half the size of the player model.

You can brighten the blood by increasing the gl_contrast value. You might also want to darken the gamma using gl_gamma.

that brightens everything in the game. And ye, more blood is ok, but it affects the other players who are playing.

You forget the #1 reason to use gl, all the cheats. Or is that just under "more features" ?
