...atleast with svgalib. The latest svgalib (http://www.svgalib.org) supports binding the mouse wheel generated Z-axis movement to an arbitrary key with a simple line in the svgalib config file like this:
mouse_fake_kbd_event Up Down
the above line binds mouse wheel movement to the up and down arrow keys.
This thing is well commented in the default config file that comes with the svgalib package.
Or atleast I got it to work in fuhquake w/out problems

faking a mouse wheel to trigger keys on the keyboard isn't the same as fuhquake supporting mouse wheel under linux so faq is correct
still useful knowledge though |
